Newton Memorial Hospital's Center for Mental Health provides comprehensive evaluation, counseling
and alcohol services for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families on an outpatient
and voluntary inpatient basis.
An expanding body of scientific and medical knowledge confirms the relationship
between mental and physical health. Physical ailments can affect the mind, and conversely,
psychological problems can affect the health of the body.
That's why Newton Memorial's Center for Mental Health is designed to provide
care for the total person. A group practice concept incorporating many diverse therapies
and skills, the Center combines a full range of mental health services under one roof.
The Center's staff includes psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric social
workers, and other clinical specialists. All professional staff members have broad experience
in their specialties and keep abreast of new developments in their fields by participating
in a wide range of professional organizations and continuing education programs.

The Emergency Services Department of the Center for Mental Health offers
24 hour help for anyone experiencing an acute mental health emergency or crisis. Emergency Services will provide immediate
care for patients of all ages, including specialized care for children, adolescents and
senior citizens.

The Access to Care Department is responsible for the scheduling of all new services at
the Center for Mental Health, including psychiatric services. Consumers should call the
number above for a telephonic clinical and financial intake. Access to Care staff will determine
level of care needs and contact insurance companies for mental health benefits. Once all
of the clinical and financial needs have been determined an appointment will be provided
for the appropriate service.
Access clinicians will take all of the clinical information telephonically. All staff have
experience working in Emergency Services and are competent to do mental health triaging.
Access administrative specialists are responsible for contacting insurance companies for
benefits and acquiring pre-certification(s) when required.
