Nutrition Counseling Services
Nutrition & diet counseling for individuals and community groups:
Newton Memorial's Nutrition and Diet Counseling Service is designed to support the professional
medical treatment of family physicians. Patients who need nutrition and diet help are referred
to the counseling service by their physicians, and a nutritional program is then structured
based on the individual's lifestyle and the doctor's diet prescription. All counseling sessions
are conducted by registered dietitians and include: complete nutrition history, analysis
of food intake, evaluation of nutritional status, diet instruction, and suggested menus.
Follow up sessions include weight checks and question and answer counseling meetings. Periodic
progress reports on the patient's status are sent to referring physicians.
Newton's outpatient nutrition counseling also helps businesses develop programs that meet
the dietary and nutritional needs of their employees by offering counseling, individual
and group weight loss programs, cholesterol control programs, etc. Special sports nutrition
programs are also available for local high schools.
