SPARTA CANCER TREATMENT CENTER

The facility is adjacent to the award-winning Sparta Health & Wellness Center located at 89 Sparta Avenue, Sparta, New Jersey. The 21,445 square foot building addition will house advanced technologies for the treatment of cancer. Quality radiation therapy, medical oncology multidisciplinary consultation coordinated with primary care, general surgery and specialty services for maximum effectiveness in the screening, detection prevention, and treatment of cancer patients. Radiation treatment will include the use of Intensity Modulated Radio Therapy (IMRT), a sophisticated method that delivers radiation to the irregular shapes of tumors while offering a high degree of protection for normal tissue. Important to the sparing of normal tissue is the system's ability to identify a patient's movement. When motion is detected, such as normal breathing, the IMRT will administer treatment only when the tumor is the target, thus sparing normal sensitive tissues.

Michael J. Gallagher, M.D., Radiation Oncologist said, "The Sparta Cancer Treatment Center offers opportunities to coordinate the excellent medical resources and caliber of physicians available in Sussex County. One of these is Bohdan, E. Halibey, M.D. who is skilled in oncology medicine and will have an office in the Center. In addition, the Center will promote the principles of the National Cancer Center Network, which includes a commitment to oncology practice guidelines, and the National Cancer Institute. Clinical trials will be offered to residents through the National Cancer Institute. In addition, Cancer Education Programs will take place throughout the year."
