Patient Accommodations

The Newton Memorial Hospital Mission is to provide you with a clean and pleasant room. Your belongings may be stored in your bedside table and/or your closet. If you have forgotten something that would make your stay more pleasant, please ask any staff member to assist you.

YOUR HOSPITAL BED:
Your bed is adjustable for your comfort. Your nurse will instruct you on its proper use. Your bed should remain in a low, locked position. Your nurse may raise the rails for your safety. Do not attempt to get out of bed by yourself if the rails are up or if you do not have your doctor's permission. A nurse intercom and call bell system is conveniently located at your bedside for your use whenever you need assistance. A nurse will answer your call as soon as possible.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL:
All areas of the hospital are climate-controlled. Please note that opening windows or adjusting heating or air-conditioning will compromise the systems. Additionally, heating and air conditioning enclosures located adjacent to beds should not be used as seats, nor should they be obstructed by clothing or other personal articles. Please contact a staff member if your room is uncomfortable.

NOISE CONTROL:
Newton Memorial has implemented a noise reduction policy in order to provide a restful environment for all patients. Overhead paging is kept to a minimum, and the staff utilizes silent pagers. A joyous sound will occasionally be heard overhead as the gentle notes of a lullaby announce a new arrival in our maternity unit.
