Hospital Billing and Insurance

HOSPITAL CHARGE:
» Your hospital bill includes a daily charge for room, meals and nursing care along with charges for laboratory, x-ray, pharmacy, operating room, anesthesia, recovery room and other services ordered by your physician.

» Your hospital bill does not include fees for your attending physician or other physicians involved with your care. You will be billed directly by these physicians.

HEALTH INSURANCE INFORMATION:
» Most patients come to the hospital with some form of insurance coverage. Many insurance plans require pre-admission certification, notice of admission, second opinions and treatment authorizations in order to receive maximum benefits. You should contact your health insurance representative to ensure that all requirements are met.

» The hospital will submit a claim to your carrier for the charges you incurred during your admission. You are responsible for deductibles, co-payments and, in the event of no payment, the full amount of the bill.

» The hospital accepts cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard and American Express for payment of your bill.

>>Below is a current listing of all health insurance plans with which Newton Memorial Hospital is “In Network” and plans with which we are not.

If your health plan is “In Network”, it means that you can receive care at Newton Memorial Hospital. Please understand that if your health plan is “Out of Network”, you can still receive care at Newton Memorial Hospital; however, you should check with your health insurance plan to understand your “Out of Network” benefits.

It is also very important to note that ALL insurances, by law, are accepted in our Emergency Department.

UNINSURED:
» Patients with limited or no insurance coverage will be requested to make a deposit and establish a payment plan. If you are unable to meet these requirements, you will be screened to determine if you qualify for free or reduced charge care in accordance with the New Jersey Hospital Care Assistance Program.
