Your Caregivers
EMPLOYEE BADGES:
All employees and volunteers are required to wear identification badges showing their name
and hospital department. Look for them so that you may get to know those people who serve
you.
YOUR PHYSICIAN:
Members of our medical staff are carefully chosen and highly qualified physicians.
YOUR NURSING STAFF:
Nursing care is provided by a highly qualified team of registered nurses, licensed practical
nurses, and nurse assistants. Each unit is under the direction of a head nurse who is responsible
for directing and coordinating nursing care. Staff members are always available to address
any concerns you may have regarding your pain. Our goal is to help you obtain your optimal
level of comfort. If you desire, you may arrange for a private duty nurse. They are not
employees of the hospital; therefore, payment is made directly to the agency. The hospital
nursing staff is still responsible for your care at all times.
YOUR Social Work/Case Management Department:
Licensed Social Workers and specially trained registered nurses are here to assist you and
your family with problems that arise during your hospitalization. They can provide you with
information on disability benefits, home care services and long term care facilities. They
also communicate with your health insurance company and may assist with transportation arrangements.
YOUR VOLUNTEERS:
At Newton Memorial, volunteers of all ages help the professional staff provide the
best possible healthcare to both patients and clinical areas. Female volunteers can be recognized
by their pink or blue smocks and male members wear red jackets.
Volunteers staff the Information Desk and Hospitality Shop. They operate the Gift Shop
in the lobby, provide messenger services, perform many clerical duties, drive the courtesy
cart in the parking lot and run the Beehive located at 123 Spring Street in Newton. Other
services provided by volunteers are the circulation of the gift cart containing small personal
items; flower and plant delivery; distribution of magazines.
Gratuities for these volunteer services are neither expected nor permitted. We earnestly
request that you conform to this policy.
The NMH Auxiliary is also an important part of our hospital team. This enthusiastic group
of volunteers provides a variety of fundraising projects to benefit both the community and
the hospital.
